About The Program
What is Wyoming Premier Hoops?
Wyoming Premier Hoops is a Riverton-based travel basketball program focused on player development, competitive tournament play, teamwork, accountability and representing Wyoming with pride.
The program gives committed youth and high school athletes opportunities to improve their skills, compete against regional teams and continue developing beyond their regular school basketball seasons.
When was Wyoming Premier Hoops founded?
Wyoming Premier Hoops was founded on April 30, 2024.
The program was created to expand competitive basketball opportunities for athletes from Riverton, Fremont County and communities across Wyoming.
Where is Wyoming Premier Hoops based?
Wyoming Premier Hoops is based in Riverton, Wyoming.
The program serves athletes from Riverton and surrounding communities while also welcoming players from other parts of Wyoming when roster opportunities are available.
Does Wyoming Premier Hoops accept players from outside Riverton?
Yes. Wyoming Premier Hoops welcomes committed athletes from communities throughout Wyoming.
Players and families must be prepared to meet the program’s practice, travel, communication and team expectations.
Is Wyoming Premier Hoops an AAU team or a travel team?
Wyoming Premier Hoops is a competitive travel basketball program.
The term AAU basketball is commonly used when discussing club and travel basketball, but not every tournament is officially sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union.
Wyoming Premier Hoops selects tournaments and showcases that support player development, competition and exposure.
Teams And Practices
What teams does Wyoming Premier Hoops offer?
The current boys program includes Wyoming Premier Hoops 19U Select and Wyoming Premier Hoops 16U Gold.
Team names, roster openings and age groups may change depending on the season, player availability and tournament schedule.
Where are practices held?
Wyoming Premier Hoops practices are held at Riverton Middle School.
Families should remain connected with the coaching staff because gym availability, special workouts or tournament-week adjustments may occasionally affect the schedule.
What days and times are practices?
Regular practices are held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.
Coaches will notify families when additional practices, workouts, meetings or schedule changes are needed.
What happens during practice?
Practices may include ball handling, shooting, finishing, passing, footwork, defense, rebounding, conditioning, decision-making and basketball IQ.
Players also work on communication, discipline, confidence, leadership, accountability and learning how to contribute within a team system.
What is expected from Wyoming Premier Hoops players?
Players are expected to bring effort, toughness, communication, discipline, coachability and a team-first attitude.
Attendance, preparation, academics, personal responsibility and respectful behavior are also important parts of representing the program.
Development And Exposure
What type of player development does the program provide?
Wyoming Premier Hoops focuses on developing complete basketball players instead of only assembling teams for tournaments.
Development may include individual skills, team concepts, defensive habits, conditioning, basketball IQ, decision-making, communication and learning how to handle competitive game situations.
What type of competition does Wyoming Premier Hoops play?
Wyoming Premier Hoops competes in travel tournaments, showcases and regional basketball events inside and outside Wyoming.
These events give players experience against different teams, playing styles, levels of speed, physicality and tournament pressure.
Does Wyoming Premier Hoops provide player exposure?
Wyoming Premier Hoops uses tournament competition, game film, player profiles, social media, photography, video coverage and team promotion to help athletes build visibility.
Exposure creates opportunities to be seen and evaluated, but it does not guarantee recruiting offers, scholarships, prep-school placement or college placement.
What is the Next Step Program?
The Next Step Program helps players and families explore possible basketball opportunities after high school.
The program focuses on realistic conversations about development, academics, film, cost, commitment, exposure and finding the right opportunity.
Recruiting, prep-school and college placement results are not guaranteed.

Tournament travel expenses are the responsibility of each player’s family. Families should plan to cover transportation, fuel, hotel accommodations, meals and other personal travel expenses connected to tournament participation.
Who can join Wyoming Premier Hoops?
Wyoming Premier Hoops is for youth and high school players who want to improve, compete, travel and be part of a serious team culture.
Coaches look for athletes who are competitive, committed, coachable, dependable and willing to support their teammates.
How can a player express interest in joining?
A player, parent or guardian should contact Wyoming Premier Hoops and provide the requested player information.
Coaches may review the athlete’s age, position, experience, goals, availability and potential fit with the program.

Who pays for tournament travel expenses?
Tournament travel expenses are the responsibility of each player’s family.
Families should expect to pay for transportation, fuel, hotel accommodations, meals and other personal travel expenses connected to tournament participation.
Families should not assume that individual travel expenses will be paid or reimbursed by Wyoming Premier Hoops.
Are tournament fees, uniforms and team costs separate?
Yes. Tournament entry fees, uniforms and other team-related costs may vary by team, event and season.
Wyoming Premier Hoops will communicate confirmed program fees and payment information to participating families.
These team costs are separate from each family’s transportation, hotel, meals, fuel and personal tournament travel expenses.
Can fundraising or sponsorships help with costs?
Fundraising, donations and sponsorship support may help reduce certain program or team expenses.
However, families should still plan to cover their own transportation, lodging, meals, fuel and personal tournament travel expenses unless the program clearly communicates otherwise for a specific event.

Who coaches Wyoming Premier Hoops?
Eriq “Coach Premier” Smith is the co-founder and head coach of Wyoming Premier Hoops 19U Select.
Judith “Juju” Smith is the co-founder and head coach of Wyoming Premier Hoops 16U Gold.
The coaching standard is centered on discipline, accountability, development, communication, trust and helping athletes grow on and off the court.

Yes. Wyoming Premier Hoops finished 4–0 and won the 2024 GTE Summer Slam Mountain West Championship .
That championship helped establish the competitive foundation and standard the program continues to build.
